Flylight can offer you the choice of two main types of microlight; the fixed-wing and the flexwing. Please simply specify your preference when booking.

The fixed-wing microlight
Resembling a light aircraft in control and appearance, the fixed-wing machine has a side-by-side fully enclosed seating arrangement. Control is effected by stick-and-rudder, similar to most flight simulators. You will sit in the pilot's seat, and will have the opportunity to fly the aircraft if you choose. Finally, the fixed-wing is capable of flying in stronger winds than the flexwing.

The flexwing microlight
Also called a weightshift or trike, the flexwing machine is based on a hang-glider wing, with the occupants suspended below one behind the other. This provides a more open wind-in-the-face experience than the fixed-wing, but insulated clothing is supplied when conditions warrant (we fly all year round).

On the day of your trial lesson, it is best to call us on (01604) 494459 to check the latest weather. Please try to allow time to reach us 15 minutes before your flight is scheduled.
Your instructor will then show you round the aircraft, and after a short safety briefing you will be strapped in, taxy out to the runway and take off!
Depending on conditions and time, you may be able to fly to local landmarks, or even see your house from the air! Your instructor will be happy to answer all your questions about the aircraft and microlighting in general before returning to the airfield for a safe touchdown in sight of your family and friends.

Microlight trial lesson vouchers are valid for 1 year from date of purchase. We advise booking early if a specific date is required.
